In the past year, a large number of people have contacted Richard about road safety concerns in Maiden Law, particularly on Lanchester Road on the bank running through the village, but also at the main crossroads in the centre of the village.
Richard has looked at the road and discussed the situation on the street with a number of constituents and residents who are concerned about the road layout and the limited traffic calming measures currently in place to discourage dangerous driving. He has written to Durham County Council, as they have responsibility for highways management but the matter remains unresolved and a concern.
However, Richard is now working with Cllrs Mike McGaun and Douglas Oliver, who were recently elected to Durham County Council for the Lanchester Ward, which includes Maiden Law, to see what actions might be taken. They would be grateful if you could help participate in the below survey so they can consider how best to take this forward.
