Richard has raised concerns in Parliament about the tensions rising in the Balkans. Since the UK intervened with our allies to stop the genocide in the mid-1990s, there has been an uneasy truce between the three sides in the conflict as they've shared power under the Dayton Agreement.
Recently the leader of the Serb group, has been threatening to pull out of the agreement by establishing a separate Army in Republika Srpska (the Serbian part of Bosnia), destabilising the whole situation and potentially sucking the whole region into wider conflict.
Richard Holden MP said:
"I raised the issue of how, while the UK must be ready for every eventuality, we must leverage all of our diplomatic 'soft' power to push back against those seeking to break up the country and cause Civil War in Eastern Europe."
