Richard's Good News Story of the Week concerns a Basildon resident with a crumbling wall outside her property - councils in disagreement and complaints not getting anywhere.
"Ms M of Basildon got in touch with me to raise an issue with a small raised piece of land outside of her home with a crumbling wall on it that was an eyesore as well as a danger.
She told me how she contacted both of our local councils who passed the buck between each other for months. After months, one Council finally accepted it was their responsibility. However, this was the point at which Ms M got stuck in the system as she got radio silence.
The Council did erect barriers to prevent any harm to people from the dangerous and unstable wall, but many months later there was still no further progress. At this point, Ms M turned to me for help to get the wall repaired.
After some back and forth, the works are now scheduled for the next few weeks. This will mean Ms M no longer has a miniature building site blighting the area outside of her home.
I’ll be sure to head down after the works are complete to check all the residents are happy.
