Good News Story: Richard resolves DVLA nightmare, helping Mrs M's daughter get back on the road.

"I’ve had another great win for a local resident with a DVLA problem after helping other constituents to navigate the long backlogs."

"Lots of people are frustrated with the long wait time and want to get behind the wheel. It’s damaging to people’s lives, especially in rural areas where there’s no public transport, and it hurts the local economy too as people aren’t able to get out and support businesses, and the toll on someone’s mental health with being cooped up in their home is worrying."

"Mrs M got in touch to ask for some help with her daughter’s driving licence renewal after she voluntarily surrendered it for medical reasons."

"Her daughter absolutely did the right thing by taking herself off the road, making it safer for everyone, and waited the fair time until she was able to get her licence back."

"However, after submitting her renewal with medical evidence, she was told it could take up to six months for her case to be reviewed and approved. This would mean she would be without access to her vehicle for a total of 18 months, a really destitute place to find herself."

"After her mother got in touch with me, I immediately raised the case with the DVLA through the appropriate channels open to an MP. In a strike of pure coincidence, I’m sure, after four days since my contact, the DVLA contacted Mrs M to let her know that her daughter’s licence has now been approved and she is able to drive again."

"Mysteriously, the potential six months delay was resolved in four days instead. I sincerely hope that other constituents facing a long delay with the DVLA have found similar success."

However, if you’re stuck in a long backlog with a government department, one of the councils, or another organisation and you need a helping nudge to get things moving again, then please do not hesitate to get in touch via my website here: www.richardholden.org.uk/contact.

"My team and I are here to help. We cannot fix every problem sadly, but we will always give it our all to help. So, if you’re a constituent of Basildon and Billericay, then get in touch now!"
