Richard's Good News Story of the Week concerned a neighbourhood housing issue that was impacting local residents.
"Ms B from Laindon got in touch with me at the beginning of July asking for some help to resolve an issue with a Council property nearby that had been left in a poor state.
With no tenants living in the Council property, the garden had become extremely overrun and an awful eyesore for local residents, along with the usual issues that comes with an overgrown garden.
Ms B had reported this locally, but no further action had been taken, so she reached out to me to get some progress.
I immediately contacted relevant officials and, soon after, they arranged for a contractor to attend the house and clear out the garden to what it once was. This is a very quick turn around and I’m impressed with the Council for actioning it within such a short time frame.
I hope now that, if the house is in a good condition, it will be soon relet to a family in need who will also have a nice, cleared-out garden to enjoy too!
Sometimes the team and I get nice and easy quick wins like this, and sometimes we work away on an issue for months until it gets resolved. But, regardless of the problem and its complexity, my team and I will also give it our all to try and help, though sometimes we cannot solve everything!
