Richard backs our Armed Forces during Armed Forces Day.
Speaking after the event, Richard said:
"Over the weekend, it has been Armed Forces day, which is a time to reflect on the brave souls who serve in the defence of our nation today.
I would have been sharing the celebration of our Armed Forces in Basildon, but in the best interest of the personnel, Basildon Borough Civil Military Partnership had to cancel the parade and service.
Safety is paramount and it was necessary to avoid the high risk of unnecessary injury with the extreme heatwave that's been going on.
Despite this, I was able to meet some local organisations of cadets, veterans and serving personnel and I will continue to visit more in the next months and years.
We can all still support our incredible Armed Forces now and throughout the year.
I’m so proud of our Armed Forces and it's imperative that they get the support they need from all of us."
