Richard attended a special centenary mass in Basildon.
Speaking after the visit, Richard said:
"It was a truly wonderful time celebrating 100 years of the Roman Catholic Church in Basildon on Saturday.
I enjoyed meeting our very own Bishop, Alan Williams, who even lives in Laindon in Basildon and Billericay. It was also a pleasure to see Billericay’s Fr Dan again and to meet Fr Dominic who is so well known in Basildon.
The Church has a real positive impct and great relationship with local schools in Basildon, including St Theresa’s, St Anne Line, and De La Salle. The community links are phenomenal and it was great to see hundreds of young people there and to meet so many wonderful and committed people to the local community - including the knights of St Columba!
I am always made to feel so welcome when I visit our local churches, and there’s still more churches and their services that I would like to see. So, if I’ve not been down to yours yet, drop me a message through my website www.richardholden.org.uk/contact or comment below and I’ll ensure to come to you!"
