After meeting with his uncle, he said:
"In a more personal post, I met up with my uncle in Billericay recently at the British Heart Foundation’s red bench in living memory of Archie.
In 2024, my uncle had a huge heart attack and needed quadruple bypass surgery which, without having this open-heart surgery, would’ve meant he had only weeks to live. Thankfully, Michael’s surgery was a success and he’s still with me and my family.
BHF then, to celebrate their 65th anniversary, installed 65 red benches across the UK in living honour of local survivors of heart disease where the BHF’s researched helped make a difference.
My uncle then committed to raise money for the BHF by travelling to every single bench across the UK on his motorbike, his ‘Slow Ride to the 65’, and it just so happened we had one of these in Billericay for Archie, who I met a few months ago with his mum and younger brother.
This gave Michael a fantastic reason to come and visit me for a catch-up but also for us to again highlight the work of the BHF in helping to save people’s lives, of all ages, through their research.
