Richard recently attended a Billericay Youth Town Council meeting to ensure safer bus routes for young people.
After the meeting, he said:
"It was a pleasure to join George from Billericay Youth Town Council, Deborah from Billericay Town Council, Cllr Baggott on behalf of Basildon Borough Council, and representatives from NiBS Buses and Essex Police at a meeting in Billericay to talk about the Young People’s Safer Buses Survey Report.
George and his colleagues have done an amazing job in spreading the survey and getting lots of representations from young people sharing their views regarding their safety on buses, along with their lived experiences.
It was very interesting to read through the report and hear from the transport, policing, and council sectors on how they can make buses safer for everyone, but especially younger people.
Like with 61016 on trains, they’re keen to get a reporting service directly for buses, which has worked in other areas. Of course, this is just one of the ideas to help, and we’ll keep the conversations going as we progress."
If you have any thoughts on safety and ASB on buses, then don’t hesitate to reach out!
