Richard attended a drop-in session with Asda in Parliament recently.
Speaking after the event, Richard said:
"I joined Asda in Parliament to hear more about the support hey provide for the community and with stores in both the Eastgate and Pipps Hill in Basildon it’s important local groups do apply. In 2025, £13,647 was given to local groups in Basildon and Billericay but I’m sure we can do more.
I met with some of the brilliant team to chat about the Asda Foundation and its future grants, check out the link below and I’ll share details as they come live for organisations in Basildon and Billericay to apply for.
Our two fantastic stores and their staff are always doing something for charity and I’ve been lucky enough to pop by them for some of their events. I cannot wait to hear what they’re up to in 2026 and to help celebrate their efforts again.
It was also really interesting to meet with Children's Book Project who are working with Asda to get books to children and help tackle poverty. They told me over 600,000 pre-loved books have been collected through Asda’s stores (Including at the Pipps Hill store) which is a fantastic achievement. I really back getting children reading, especially in this day and age of children being glued to mobile phones and other technology.
Check out Asda’s grants that you can apply for right now here: https://asdafoundation.org/our-grants/ and I’ll post more in future as they become available."
