Richard visited HMS Sutherland on a cross-party delegation.
Speaking after the visit, Richard said:
"It’s not every day you step aboard a Royal Navy frigate moored right by HMS Belfast on the Thames - and what an experience it was!
I joined a small group of MPs to hear directly from the Minister for the Armed Forces about our new 1st Sea Lord and the Royal Navy about the vital work they do keeping our country safe as Russian submarines and aircraft buzz our forces around the U.K.
From protecting trade routes and tracking hostile submarines to supporting British shipbuilding and defence exports, HMS Sutherland is a shining example of the professionalism and impact of our armed forces.
A real privilege to meet the crew and see first-hand how our Navy and Royal Marines are delivering for the UK at home and abroad.
