After meeting with the Essex Community Foundation, Richard said:
"I met with the Essex Community Foundation to hear more about their work across #BasildonAndBillericay and Essex, and how they can get involved with the Pride in Place Laindon project too. The Foundation is the largest funder for charities in Essex and have awarded over £65m in grants since being founded 30 years ago. This makes such a huge difference to communities and charities where every penny is so desperately needed. And they give out well over £1million every year in funding.
It was fascinating to hear about the community benefit they’ve achieved and all the different charities that I’ve already met that has benefited from their funding. It certainly opens the realm of further funding, and I’ll certainly be recommending to the places I visit that they apply to the Foundation. I hope that the Government will also properly consider their proposal to be involved in Pride in Place across Essex, especially to establish a lasting legacy of community funding.
On the call, we came up with a great idea to bring together funders with local community organisations, and that’s something we’ll start shaping into a concrete idea. Stay tuned for more on this!
