Richard finds a solution for on street parking in residential areas and near schools in Billericay and Basildon.

Speaking after a few meetings, Richard said:

"With so many parking restrictions being implemented to try and solve commuter and commercial parking in residential streets, there are now problems arising in new roads as a result.

Many residents have asked me what the options are to prevent these issues as they haven't been able to park or access their own properties and on one road, emergency vehicles and bin lorries haven't been able to get past the parked cars.

Over the last few months, I have been raising these issues with the South Essex Parking Partnership (SEPP) and it was good to meet with them alongside Councillor Schrader to discuss the Billericay resident's applications which are being assessed and I have chased the progress on this and they have promised to provide an update on the issues I have raised soon.

I have also been concerned around parking outside of schools, especially with Basildon primary schools and I have asked SEPP for a meeting with local headteachers and I shall provide an update once this has been arranged.

I will always support residents to find the best solution for where they live but it must be one which they request.

I am hoping that we will see some progress soon so that the residents and schools that I’ve met with awful parking situations in their road will soon see some progress.

I will continue to update you on this matter once more progress is made."
