Richard Holden MP joined the U.K. Delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Indonesia to strengthen global relationships in a time of Russian-led conflict.
Richard attended with a cross-party delegation of MPs and Peers: including Dan Carden and Anna McMorrin from Labour, Karen Bradley and Harriet Baldwin from the Conservatives and Chris, Lord Rennard, from the Lib Dems.
With Ukraine in the spotlight following Russia’s invasion, the huge bulk of the conference and bi-lateral meetings between the UK delegation and other countries were concerned with pushing the UK’s firm stance on Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine and broadening international support for action and firm sanctions.
It was also an important opportunity to demonstrate Britain’s ongoing commitment to advancing relationships not just with Indonesia (the world’s 4th most populous country) a major oil exporter and also the most populous Muslim-majority country in the world.
The UK delegation had bi-lateral meetings both formal and informal with many countries including: Indonesia, Finland, Norway, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, UAE, Mexico, Egypt, Rwanda, Estonian and Latvia and were actively involvement in all sessions of the assembly.
