Richard honours Britain's war dead at The Somme.
"I caught up with the team from the Basildon Borough Twinning Association along with Councillor Alex Myers at my office in Billericay to chat about their work, upcoming events and regarding commemorating the end of WWI.
They have an incredible group of volunteers who put on great local events, especially with refugees from Ukraine and they put great work in promoting the relationship between Basildon and our twinned cities which are Heiligenhaus in Germany and Meaux in France.
On top of this, they are incredible in also supporting our community here.
I have attended many events with them and they have just laid a wreath on my behalf at The Somme to commemorate the end of WWI and the Never Forget Project.
I am beyond grateful for all of the work which they contribute to our community and I look forward to a continuation of our great relations together and I am so glad to be able to show my respects to the British who died at the Battle of The Somme."
