Richard recently met with Kylie-Rae and the team at Basildon Community Transport Services in Basildon, to hear about their vital work.
Speaking after the visit, Richard said:
"I went by the amazing Basildon Community Transport Services in Basildon to meet Kylie-Rae and the team which provides a local service focused on reducing social isolation for elderly and disabled people across the whole borough.
Whilst there, I met two of their regulars – Joan and Olive – who spend their time brightening up the room, and Joan even made scones for everyone there. They told me how important the service is to them and what a lifeline it is, and I heard more about how this service is helping get elderly people about without costing them a fortune. They also have other services available, like toenail cutting.
They’ve got clients right across Basildon, Billericay, Laindon and the villages so do check them out.
I really enjoyed seeing their fleet of vans and taking a ride in one to see what it’s like. They do such a great job and it was lovely to see it first hand for myself.
