Richard recently met with Coats4Kids in Westminster to hear about their work.
Speaking after the meeting, Richard said:
"It was great to meet recently with the team from Coats4Kids to discuss the fantastic work they’re doing to support children and families across Basildon and Billericay.
Coats4Kids works with primary schools to provide brand-new winter coats to children who need them, helping ensure every child can arrive at school warm, confident and ready to learn.
The charity is already supporting 14 primary schools across Essex, including schools in the Basildon Council area such as Ghyllgrove, Northlands, Whitmore, Maple Grove and Janet Duke.
Since launching locally, these schools have collectively issued 170 vouchers and delivered 111 coats directly to children identified by school staff.
It was inspiring to hear how this practical, discreet support is making a real difference for families and reducing barriers to learning for young people across our community.
A huge thank you to everyone involved with Coats4Kids for the work they do."
