Richard attended the cemetery in Howden-le-Wear, keeping the memory of those who fought and died for Britain alive.
"There are dozens of sites of Commonwealth War Graves Commission war graves or memorials, commemorating people from across North West Durham who fought and died in the World Wars and conflicts since. They all have that green plaque you can see in the video.
"#WarGravesWeek provides an opportunity to connect with our local history & learn about the courageous people who gave so much for our freedom.
"I visited one of them this week with Cllr Mike McGaun, a veteran himself and one of Durham County Council’s Armed Forces Champions.
