Richard recently spoke at the Rail Forum Annual Parliamentary Reception in his Shadow role.

Speaking after the event, Richard said:

"A little insight into my job as Shadow Transport Secretary.

Last week I spoke at the Rail Forum Annual Parliamentary Reception last week, bringing together voices from across the rail supply chain. Tens of thousands of people work in Rail beyond the day to day operations. They’re supplying everything from the rolling sock to replacement sleepers.

Rail Forum represents nearly 400 organisations across the UK, from major global firms to innovative SMEs, all playing a vital role in keeping our railways moving and evolving. At a time when the Labour Government is imposing state control over our railways, these conversations have never been more important.

In my speech, I emphasised a simple but crucial point: if the Government wants a thriving rail sector, it must provide certainty. That means publishing key strategies, offering clarity to businesses, and working constructively with both public and private partners.

Our railways succeed when they bring together all parts of the system, operators, manufacturers, freight, and the wider supply chain, focused on what really matters: delivering reliable, affordable, and high-quality journeys for passengers.

Thank you again to Rail Forum for hosting such a timely and valuable event."
