Richard recently met with the Billericay Brewery in Parliament as their amber ale is now being served for two weeks.
Speaking after the meeting, Richard said:
"Some fantastic news for the beer lovers in Basildon and Billericay. I’ve managed to get the Billericay Zeppelin amber ale into the pumps of the infamous Strangers’ Bar in the House of Commons.
We’re so lucky to have a brilliant independent brewery in the constituency, and the team behind it are fantastic. When I first visited them, I made a promise to get them into Parliament. Not even a year later, Parliament is now serving local beer made in Billericay – really getting the name out there to MPs across the country. And even more important, a politician keeping their promise!
I hope this will help convince Members on the other side of the House to finally understand how important pubs and breweries are to local communities. It’s also bragging rights for me to have such a top-quality brewery in my constituency, and everyone in the local area raves about them!
I’ll be seeing them again later this month for the Summer Beer Festival running from 18th June until 22nd June!"
