Richard's Good News Story of the Week: Back working behind the wheel!

Richard shared a Good news story of the week concerning PHV license.

"You may remember a Good News Story I posted late last year an out when a constituent needed help with their private hire vehicle (PHV) licence.

Well, not only did we manage to sort that one but following the post I was asked for help with another PHV licence, this time by Mr H from Basildon.

Mr H had applied for his licence back in 2024, passed his test, and provided all documents that TfL needed from him. And since 2024, he’d kept being told he was in the last stage of a final review.

Maddeningly, whenever Mr H contacted them, he didn’t get any further. In fact, he finally came to me as his last resort, and he needs this licence to make a living – something we can all sympathise with.

After contacting TfL, within a couple of weeks suddenly Mr H’s licence was issued to him, nearly two years after first making his application. I’m glad Mr H is able to work but the system should not be this slow and people shouldn’t need to have to come to me to get this sorted.

Now, I’ll raise this backlog through the proper channels, but sadly TfL is under the supervision of the not exactly pro-motorist Mayor of London so I guess we all know how much positive change we’ll get there!

That said, I’m always happy to help with any issue stuck in the system and nudge it in the right direction. So please reach out to me for some help through my website here: https://www.richardholden.org.uk/contact. I cannot fix every issue, but my team and I sure will always give it our all."
