Witton-Le-Wear Primary School gets £360,000 from DCC for major improvements.

On the funding:

"I’ve had emails confirming today this investment from Durham County Council. This is really good news and something I’ve campaigning for since my election with the school governors - especially Anne Yuill and a big shout out to Councillor Ted Henderson from Durham County Council who has been very supportive as the portfolio holder.

"Plans will be made this year with the extension and remodelling work in summer holidays in 2023 to minimise disruption to teaching.

"This is one of a number of education capital spending projects I’ve been arguing for on behalf of #NorthWestDurham constituents with: the Council, Regional Schools Commissioner in the North East, and Ministers at Department for Education and I’ll update when we hear back about other projects."
