In Parliament today, it was great to support the Nuclear industry’s skills and apprenticeships fair to see for myself the investment in skills currently going on in the Nuclear energy sector. I even managed to pick the brains of some of the bright young apprentices that will be our highly skilled nuclear engineers of the future. Investment in this sector will have a big impact on us in the North East, as one of the UK's six nuclear reactors is just down the road in Hartlepool.
Following the horrific invasion of Ukraine, it has never been more important for the UK to become energy self-sufficient. As a reliable energy source, nuclear will play a crucial part in this, so it is great to see so much energy, enthusiasm and investment going into this sector with some of the degree apprentices in Parliament today from our own county earning while they learn.
