Being able to get a GP appointment when you need one is vitally important. I am delighted that how primary care is delivered is being modernised to keep up with patient demand and help to cut NHS waiting lists.
1. No more 8am rush for GP appointments. Patients will now be given an appointment immediately or be redirected to more appropriate services
2. You can now get prescription medication directly from a pharmacy, without a GP appointment
3. 15 million more GP appointments over the next two years
4. You will be able to access your own medical records on the NHS app
These changes are a huge step in the right direction and will make GPs more accessible for more people over more appointments. There is always more to be done and I look forward to the Prime Minister delivering on even more important stuff that will make a real difference to our lives.
Here I am with my friend, the Health Secretary and Lord Markham, a health Minister, who have both helped push through this as well of loads of other good stuff recently like the Shotley Bridge Hospital funding.
