County Durham is set to benefit from £1.2 million from the Government to improve housing support for addiction recovery.
Treatment outcomes for people in drug and alcohol recovery are often significantly improved by addressing their housing needs at the same time, providing additional support and stability to those that really need it most. Having visited server Al programmes in our area over the last couple of years for those dealing with addiction I know how much support is required. The crime that often goes alongside addiction also really hammers our towns and villages, especially in the least affluent areas.
This £1.2 million pound investment into County Durham will help address these issues, supporting a range of projects over the next three years such as training to help those dealing with trauma, women’s-only housing for those who have experienced domestic violence and support for those dealing with addiction.
I want to see improved treatment outcomes and eliminate substance abuse everywhere, but I will always fight so that the people of County Durham get as much assistance from Government as possible. That is why I am delighted to see this serious investment into County Durham which targets funding towards those that need it most.
