Great to visit Lisa Cocoran on her lovely little farm in Wear Valley Junction.
She has a few fantastic, award winning, pedigree Oxford Sandy and Blacks which have just had some adorable rare-breed piglets only 3 weeks ago. Hopefully they will make award-winning show pigs when they’re fully grown. They are the only of their kind in Durham, even rarer than the giant panda!
Lisa has done amazing with her pig excellence award: https://www.northernfarmer.co.uk/.../23312420.oxford.../
Her other animals were just as sweet, including some rare breed sheep and ducks. It’s great to see her do so well because she shows the perfect example of high welfare rearing. She has even been made an ambassador and helps teach others from across the country how to do it.
I always love going around our local farms and getting stuck in. If you have a farm and want me to come along, please get in touch via https://www.richardholden.org.uk/contact!
