**Gemma’s Story - 41 year old Bishop Auckland teacher who lives in Consett struck down with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) **

Gemma got in touch with Richard's team a couple of weeks ago and kindly invited him to go and visit her and her husband James at their home in Consett last week.
Gemma life was flipped upside down when last year she was diagnosed with FND - a condition very close to Parkinson’s and much more common than you might think. She can no longer teach and requires lots of support from James to even do the everyday things we take for granted.
James is doing fundraising for FND and has already done a Snowdon Climb with his employer Enhance Windows, doors and conservatories (James’s employer) - see the pic below.
And today, Gemma’s family, friends and old work colleagues are completing a 23mile walk from St. Andrew's Primary and Nursery School (in Bishop Auckland - where Gemma taught) to The Travellers Rest in Consett.
They’ve been blown away by the support and have already raised over £1,800 so if you can please sponsor by the link here: https://fndhopeuk.enthuse.com/pf/teachfnd
The funds go towards both research to help those with this condition and awareness so that others in the same situation will not have to fight as hard in future.
