Having grown up in a rural community, been your MP for a number of years, I know how vital transport to school is in places you can’t walk to school. Not just for children to get to school on time, cheaply and reliably, but for parents who would otherwise spend hours a day on traffic-packed school runs.
When Ms H of Edmundbyers got in touch with me because her child’s school wasn’t funding travel because they deemed 3 miles with miles of no footpaths and streetlights on country lanes as an appropriate way to walk to school.
Clearly, this is not right and I was only too happy to voice her concerns to the powers that be. Following my representations, the Council reassessed her son’s case and provided free home to school transport for her child!
If you feel like your voice is not being listened to, and you have exhausted all available avenues, please get in touch and I will make your case heard. I cannot guarantee such a fantastic outcome every time, but I will always try.
