Richard Holden MP's good news story of the week involves supporting a victim of fraud.
Commenting, he said:
"Ms H from Consett got in touch with me on behalf of her mam Mrs Y who lives nearby.
Mrs Y had been sent letters demanding she attend court by one of our big telecommunications companies over a debt of hundreds of pounds that she had no idea about. As you can imagine, this was leaving Mrs Y really distressed.
After trying to work out what the problem was and getting no-where - and in fear that her mam might be dragged into court - Ms H contacted my constituency office. We quickly got to work and got in touch with the company.
We escalated the issue and it turned out that Mrs Y had actually been the victim of a fraud with someone trying to allocate a bill wrongly to her. Within a week of getting in touch with my office Mrs Y got contacted by the company informing her that all had been sorted out and apologising for the distress caused."
