As Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine continues, I know that everyone is still feeling the pinch as a result of price rises. That is why I have argued for the targeted, direct support to help people and businesses.
HOUSEHOLD SUPPORT FUND
On top of the main packages, to cap prices, the Government has also provided pots funding to all councils to ensure that there can be extra targeted support delivered at a local level too. Durham County Council have received £4,676,100 from the Household Support Fund and are using it to provide:
1. A one-off food voucher of £110 for parents with children on free school meals
2. A grant to target support for referred households to purchase essential household items
3. A one-off distribution of food vouchers worth £110 to care leavers
4. £110 to kinship carers to provide for children they look after
5. A grant to Durham Carers Centre to support all age carers
OFF GRID
There has also been serious work done to support those living on ‘off-grid’, who will be receiving an extra £200 as they have gone without much-needed assistance for a while now. The majority of people using alternative fuels will receive the £200 alternative fuel payment automatically through their supplier with no need to take action. However, if you are entitled to this and have are having difficulty with this, please either contact the Council’s Warm Homes Team on 03000 268 000.
If you are having difficulty receiving the necessary support and have exhausted all avenues, then please get in touch at wwwRichardHolden.org.uk/contact and my team and I will do all I can to ensure you are properly supported through these difficult times.
