Minister Holden was today up in Newcastle to announce 2.05m metre longer trucks after an 11 year pilot of 3,000 vehicles. This means:
1. Less congestion with 1/12 fewer HGVs
2. Safer Roads & fewer incidents
3. £1.4bn growth
4. 70,000 fewer tons of CO2
Currently, lorries cannot go over a certain length. Richard changed the rules to allow our lorries to be longer, meaning that lorries carrying lighter loads like sausage rolls and pasties can fit more in. This means companies will need to use less lorries, safely adding capacity to our roads as well as reducing their carbon footprint even more.

Commenting Richard Holden MP said:
"Greggs is one of the North East’s biggest success stories, and is expanding all the time. It was great to see their world-class operation first-hand. It really is so impressive.
"It was especially good to catch up with my constituent Jeff, who has worked there for years.
"It feels great to be making these positive changes, and even better to deliver this great news right here in the North East."
