Richard Holden Brings up Petrol and Diesel Prices at Consett Supermarkets at the Public Accounts Committee.
Richard: "I've taken the issue of the massive price differential of up to 10p/litre between Consett and Bishop Auckland to Parliament.
Yesterday, I raised the issue during the meeting of the Public Accounts Committee with the Permanent Secretary (most senior civil servant) at the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS).
She said that any price collusion would be treated incredibly seriously by the CMA (Competition and Markets Authority), who are there to ensure that big businesses don't abuse their market position to the detriment of consumers.
She also said that she will ask her team at BEIS to have a close look at what is going on locally regarding the issue faced by North West Durham constituents and come back to me.
I will continue to pursue this issue on behalf of my constituents. Please look out for further updates."
