Richard Holden MP thoroughly enjoyed his visit to meet Svitlana, Olha, Sasha and Alyosha who are staying with the Moyle’s in Malton, Lanchester.
After the meeting, Richard comments:
"It was difficult to avoid getting a little emotional meeting this lovely family from Kyiv. The men from their families have stayed behind, some of them fighting, some keeping the country going as the bombs and shells from Putin’s unprovoked war of aggression pummel cities, towns and villages across Ukraine.
"As Putin and his forces pursue an aggressive war of conquest and terror against a country and a people who want to be left in peace, I’m glad that the UK is both helping those forced to flee and providing necessary humanitarian aid and lethal weapons to support President Zelenskyy and the Ukrainian people.
"Svitlana, Olha, Sacha and little Alyosha all want to go back to their country as soon as it’s safe to do so. In the meantime, we will support and help them and I cannot emphasise enough how much gratitude we all owe to people like Simon and Julie for taking the family in. Svitlana is (I can personally attest) a first-rate baker and keen to work while she is here so if anyone has a vacancy I’d be delighted to link you up with her."
