My Top 5 Weekly Update!
1) Witton-le-Wear School funds - I am super thrilled for the team at Witton-le-Wear Primary School, who have received £360,000 in funding from Durham County Council. This is for remodelling the school, adding classroom space, updating the loos etc too. I mentioned this in my Question to the Prime Minister on Wednesday of this week (see here: https://www.richardholden.org.uk/.../witton-le-wear...).
2) Fantastic jobs numbers - overall unemployment is now LOWER than the national average at 3.5%. For young people aged 18-24, unemployment has more than halved over the last year AND there are now more people from North West Durham in work than at the last general election, despite the global pandemic!
3) Saudi Arabian Shura Council in Parliament - was great to meet and strengthen our already important relationship. And raise some tough issues with them such as: women's rights, LGBT rights
4) Wolsingham Flower Show - had a delightful visit to the flower show, which was really fantastic and enjoyed by all - big thanks to Cllr Anita Savory & all involved, especially the young people from Wolsingham School.
5) Burnhope Solar Farm survey - I have just started a survey on a potential solar energy farm in Burnhope to see what YOU my constituents feel about this matter. It will be 200-acres large and be able to power more than 13,000 homes! Please fill out our short survey here: https://www.richardholden.org.uk/Burnhopesolar....
Thanks everyone, and see you next week!
