Richard Holden MP Leading the Campaign to Ban So-Called ‘Virginity Testing’ and Hymenoplasty in the U.K.
This week the Government have fully accepted that the ban on Hymenoplasty should happen and have tabled amendments in House of Lords to the Health and Care Bill after doing the same to ban so-called Virginity Testing in the House of Commons at an earlier point.
This will bring to an end these horrendous practices that valued women based on notions of purity, rather than on the person they are.
Richard: "I have been honoured to work with so many amazing people on this campaign, some of whom have been subject to these practices themselves.
I am delighted with this big move after a long campaign. MEWSorganisation, Karma Nirvana, IKWRO have been banging on about this for years and I’m really glad to have been able to help them.
My constituents have no truck with this nonsense and neither do I. I really hope that this helps to lead to wider cultural change too. All British citizens deserve the same rights, dignity and respect as individuals.
Thank you to Tom Harwood and GB News for picking up on this issue and covering it as I pushed this major legislative change through Parliament."
