We all know that our local bus services need to be better and more reliable. That is why Richard Holden MP has been arranging numerous meetings in which members of the public have been able to voice their opinion to the bus bosses about where the service can improve.
Buses can play a central role in growing the economy and have the potential to truly bring Levelling Up to peoples’ lives. Increasing passenger numbers will be critical in revitalising town centres and also putting cash into people’s pockets as public transport can have significant cash compared to commuting by cars. That is why it is so important that Go North East are showing they want to get better.
During the meeting, Go North East demonstrated that they want to listen, learn and improve the service. There were some strong views from the packed room full of people but there were lots of constructive points. This includes where additional bus stops could be added and where services can be made more frequent to ensure that travelling by bus remains a viable transport option.
Richard’s next meeting next will be with Arriva at the St Catherine’s Community Centre in Crook on Thursday 30th March from 1700 to 1800. If you want to voice your grievances and have any ideas about how the buses could be more useful to you then please come along. The more people that attend these meetings, the more likely they are to listen and make changes, so please get down there.
Commenting, Richard Holden MP said:
“It was great that the team at Go North East have hosted another meeting with local residents to discuss where improvements to our bus service can be made, this time in Burnopfield. If you have been to one of these, you know how useful they’ve been and that the Go North East Team did listen to people’s concerns.
“Thanks so much to the dozens of people who were able to come along. It’s great that Go North East are showing they want to listen to where they can improve but without people’s local knowledge and ideas it would simply not be possible.
“If you haven’t been to one of these meetings yet and have ideas about how we can improve our service so, please come along!”
