Great to be in Stanhope this weekend to complete the full spectrum of shows going on in our area at the back end of summer. Thankfully, from a really wet summer the weather seems to have finally showed up to bathe our agricultural shows in glorious sunlight - and under the wings of a spitfire.
It was so good to see everyone having such a fun time, all made possible by the local community pulling together to stage the event. From the farmers showing their prized animals to the drystone wallers showing their skills, everyone is just so friendly and enthusiastic.
Nothing comes close to our tightly-knit rural communities. Days like today make me realise what an honour and a privilege it is to represent North West Durham – the country’s friendliest and most beautiful constituency!
