Over the last two years, my summer short story competition has proved extremely popular. It is a fun and creative activity for your child to get on with to pass the time over the summer holiday.
This year, the theme is ‘What happened when you find you have a magic power‘. I can’t wait to see what weird and wonderful things kids come up with this time! You really can never know, last year I had a good chuckle reading through the hundreds of stories that came in.
Competition Details:
1.) It is open to young people under the age of 11 years, who live or attend a school in my NW Durham Constituency
2.) Please include your name, age, and which school you attend, or parents/guardian contact details so that I can contact the winner’s school or parents.
3.) I would be delighted if the story mentions North West Durham in some way, but that’s for you to decide!
4.) It can be no more than 300 words long.
The winner will be chosen by myself, and I will read every story and choose my favourite.
Entries must be submitted by Thursday 8th September and can be dropped into my office or posted to: Richard Holden MP, 25-27 Medomsley Road, Consett, Co. Durham DH8 5HE or you can email your story to my Constituency Secretary: alison.hirst@parliament.uk
I will contact the winning school or parent and announce the winner on my Facebook page by Friday 30th September.
There will be a small prize for the winning story and I will write back to every child who submits a story. Here I am with last year's winner.
I look forward to reading the stories. Good luck!
