My two weeks of summer surgery tour has been fantastic, with a brilliant final day to cap things off. I went to over 50 stops, covering every town and village in every corner of North West Durham and meeting hundreds of people from every walk of life. Looking forward to the Wolsingham Show tomorrow, keep your eyes peeled for me if you’re going and want a chat.
For the final day, it was a real honour to be the guest speaker at Wolsingham Ladies Day at the show ground to help raise money for Weardale Community Hospital. Huge credit is due to Cllr Anita Savory for her decade of organising this event. I spoke about a range of things from my mum’s job as a ward clerk in the NHS to my campaign to ban so-called virginity testing & Hymenoplasty and it was fantastic to see so many people who do so much in our local community there.
My final day of the Tour is done! 53 surgery stops plus over a dozen pop-ins to local businesse. Got along to Delves Lane, Knitsley and Thornley today to listen to the issues that matter to my constituents. It was especially good to see the great work Delves Councillors have been doing with Crookhall residents, led by Jean, at the community centre.
