It was fantastic for Google to pop in to St Patrick’s Church Hall in Consett to host their roving ‘Google Garage’ workshop. It was an action-packed day of digital skills training for local entrepreneurs and established businesses.
Not only are they a national leader in apprenticeships already, but through this new drive they are providing free digital skills training right across the country. It was great to host them right here in North West Durham - especially as we are one of the first constituencies in the country to get this free training.

"I am a firm believer in upskilling local talent, having seen first-hand at my apprenticeship fairs the transformative impact on both the individual as well as our local economy. I want to see as many local people in high-skill jobs as possible, so it is great to see Google singing from the same hymn sheet.
"In this day and age, it is absolutely vital that people have the skills needed to thrive online, so it really is a brilliant initiative."
