North West Durham gets some of the most regular snowfall in England getting on average 50 snowy days a year - which is one of the reason's we're home to England's largest ski area in Weardale Ski Club! The regular transformation into winter wonderland one of the things I love most about living in North West Durham.
However, I know that it can also cause concern and disruption to our day to day lives. The deep freezes, snowfalls and sudden thaws have caused some real issues for Northumbrian Water to keep our taps running, but I have really been encouraged in recent conversations I've had with them about the work they have been doing.
In the first two weeks of December, their leakage teams carried out 80 fixes and repairs on leaky or burst pipes. In the last seven days, they have managed to find and fix over 200 leaks across our operating areas, speaking to over 5,500 affected customers.
In some of the most urgent cases myself and my team have managed to speed up household repairs, as I know how vital it is to have freely flowing tap water. If you have any issues with your water, please get in contact at www.RichardHolden.org.uk/contact
