Great to have fantastic local businessman Tony Cleary of Lanchester Wines in Number 10 Downing Street to meet Michael Gove to discuss Levelling Up and how we help businesses grow across the country.
Lanchester Wines is such an impressive family business with a great story. Tony and his wife set it up round their kitchen table and it now employ around 550 people in the area and have grown to become one of the UK’s leading wine importers and wholesalers.
Still family owned, Lanchester Wines is a fantastic advert for what people from North West Durham can do. I will not stop banging the drum for our great local businesses, and this was a great opportunity to recognise all his great work.
Above all, Tony hasn’t lost the common touch either. He was such a good laugh the whole evening!
