Richard Holden MP enjoys his Villa Real School visit.
"It’s always a pleasure to visit Villa Real School. They provide really excellent schooling for pupils aged 2-19 years with severe learning difficulties (SLD), profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Jill Bowe, the Headteacher, and the whole team do a phenomenal job for the pupils in their care.
"Although the staff and teaching are really good, the building just isn't up to scratch. Certainly not for the needs of the young people there. Originally designed for 35 pupils and added to over the years it now has over 100 pupils. The Council are currently looking at plans for the future to help improve the facilities available and I'm pushing them and The Department for Education to help.
"Back in April, I used the opportunity to ask the then Education Secretary for capital facilities funding for Villa Real School. And since then, I have been applying additional pressure to the powers that be.
"Villa Real is always a favourite of mine to visit, the pupils and their teachers are a real credit. It was really nice to talk to them a little about Parliament and the role of an MP on this visit too. Until next time!"
