Today is world book day. It is important we mark it because a love of books and reading at a young age changes lives.
These days, there are so many distractions from screens so it is more important than ever that we make an effort to instill a love of reading. You can pick up a children’s book today or use our excellent County Durham Libraries service for free - maybe just set aside half an hour for yourself to have a read this evening - and reading to children is so important.

"Personally, I remember loving books at a young age, which was transformational for me. Even as an adult, nothing beats a good book!
"I rarely have the time to myself these days to sit down and have a read but when I can find the time an audio book in the car up to North West Durham is almost the same. I’m working my way through John Le Carre at the moment, let me know below what you’re reading right now or your favourite book below!"
