Richard Holden MP provides an update on the reopening of Consett Swimming Pool.
"Durham County Council have written to me today with an update. The Swimming Pool is due to re-open to the public on Friday 1 July.
"The swimming pool has been closed to allow for essential maintenance and repair work. These works have now been completed and the pool has been handed back to The Council. They now need to prepare it and allow staff training to take place per the next couple of weeks."
In addition:
1.) Aqua classes at the leisure centre will resume from Monday 4 July, with classes bookable from seven days in advance.
2.) Free weekend swim sessions for those aged 18 and under will be available on Saturdays from 2 July between 1pm and 2pm until the school holidays as part of a County Durham Sport-funded free weekend swimming initiative available across all of our swimming pool sites.
3.) Staff are working to programme Learn to Swim lessons and will be contacting all customers who attend these directly from today regarding the allocation of places. This is to allow sufficient time for processing places and the setting up of direct debits ahead of lessons resuming week commencing 11 July.
4.) All clubs which previously used the pool will be contacted directly regarding their return and swim members will also be contacted directly regarding their membership payments.
