Richard Holden MP backs UK steel production in debate with Minister.
"Today, on behalf of workers at Co. Durham firms like Con Mech Engineers, I raised concerns with the international trade secretary about steel tariffs and quotas.
"While it’s right we protect U.K. steel from dumping, we also need to ensure certain specialised steel, which there is either none or very limited production of in the U.K., can be imported for high end manufacture of cutting and digging tools. This is especially the case when Ukraine, which was a major producer of certain steel products in Mariupol, has seen production destroyed by Russia’s illegal invasion force.
"I will always fight the corner for our local employers and the employees they support and look forward to raising the issue further in discussions with Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP."
