** Operation Snap - if you’re fed up of total dangerous wazzocks on our roads, get involved below **
It was really special to spend some time with Durham Roads and Armed Policing down in Spennymoor recently. They do such vital work and deal with some of the most horrific incidents, including death and serious injury on our roads. Seeing the work they do behind the scenes to get people brought to justice was really impressive.
With c. 1,700 people a year killed on our roads and almost 30,000 suffering life changing injuries, we all have a role to play in reducing the terrible impact on families that dangerous and careless driving has.
As Minister for Roads & Local Transport in Department for Transport I’m always looking at ways to ensure we have safer roads and reduce the impact on families and communities from the minority of motorists who have a total disregard for others.
This is one of the reasons I’m especially pleased that Durham Constabulary alongside other forces are now allowing YOU to upload dashcam footage of dangerous driving which they can then prosecute.
Of the 450 videos uploaded so far over 300 have led to further action, including court cases and disqualification.
Having spoken to the local force, there especially keen to get footage from horse riders after some terrible incidents so, whether you’re riding or driving and if you’ve got a dashcam on your helmet or in your vehicle and witness something dangerous in Durham & Darlington - upload it via the link here: https://p.sentrysis.com/police/rtc/
It’s quite simple and straightforward to use.
