One of the best things about living in North West Durham is our pristine villages and countryside. However, recently litter seems to be a massive issue for many. Having got involved in a few litter picks myself, I have even noticed it getting worse. So, when Mr G of Moorside got in touch with me about litter in his area, I knew that something had to be done. It was particularly frustrating because Durham County Council had made promises to clean it up, with nothing being done.
After I got involved, the Council got into gear and that week they came and cleared all of it up.

While everyone was delighted with this outcome, it would be great if it didn’t have to come to this. The Government has introduced important changes in the last year to crack down on fly-tipping but if everyone did their bit, we wouldn’t have to go to such lengths to clean up our area.
