So sad to see the arson attack on Ushaw Historic House, Chapels & Gardens.

Agricultural Shows Round Up!

Wow! What a great few months of agricultural shows and county fairs here in North West Durham. The fairs season is always one of my favourite things about summer here. Nowhere else in the UK does it quite like we do here.

Richard's Transformational Pension Bill Passes

After years of groundwork, my Extension of Pensions Auto-enrolment Bill passed its final stage in Parliament.

This will lower the age of people who are auto-enrolled in their pensions to 18 as well as lowering the earnings limits!

Kynren!

Great to get down to Kynren in Bishop Auckland. It is a charming take on our national tale, performed by hundreds of volunteers. What’s particularly interesting is to tell our national story but from the perspective of the North.

Grey Horse - North East Pub of the Year

The Grey Horse in Consett has been put forward as the North East’s best for a national award as part of CAMRA's National Pub of the Year competition.

Veterans Reception in No. 10

It was fantastic to be in No. 10 Downing Street with local Veteran and candidate for Durham Police and Crime Commissioner Robert Potts. As a former Durham Police Sergeant in addition to his service in the army overseas, we certainly had a lot to chat about.

Nissan UK

Manufacturing is the beating heart of the UK economy. The sector employs millions nationwide and accounts for almost half of our exports. A big contributor to that is Nissan, it was fantastic to pop down to Sunderland and pay them a visit.

Stanhope Show

Great to be in Stanhope this weekend to complete the full spectrum of shows going on in our area at the back end of summer.

Farm Visit

Great to visit Lisa Cocoran on her lovely little farm in Wear Valley Junction.
